چکیده
Titanium powders and hydroxyapatite were used to fabricate the titanium composite coating (Ti/Ti/HA) on Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) by vacuum plasma spraying (VPS). The phase composition morphology of Ti/Ti/HA analyzed XRD, SEM, industrial CT, three-dimensional contour profiler (DEKTAK XT). results showed that was dominated HA a small amount Ti phase. presented an obvious three-layer structure with different roughness porosity. bottom porosity less than 10%; middle porous 35% ± surface crystallinity near 95%, 32% 10%, Ra = 30 10 ?m. Moreover, TG-DSC ATR-FTIR VPS has no effect thermochemical properties PEEK material. average bond strength achieved 32 MPa.

Coating of Carbon Fibre Reinforced PEEK Implants with Titanium by Vapour Plasma Spraying for Improved Bone Apposition
Introduction: The success of an orthopaedic implant depends on several factors, such as implant material properties, design and fixation technique as well as bone apposition around the implant. Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is a composite thermoplastic biomaterial exhibiting biochemical and biomechanical properties suitable for load-bearing orthopaedic implants. Two advantages of carbon fibre rei...
متن کاملHydroxyapatite coating on porous zirconia
Since hydroxyapatite has excellent biocompatibility and bone bonding ability, porous hydroxyapatite ceramics have been intensively studied. However, porous hydroxyapatite bodies are mechanically weak and brittle, which makes shaping and implantation difficult. One way to solve this problem is to introduce a strong porous network onto which hydroxyapatite coating is applied. In this study, porou...
متن کاملThe electron beam deposition of titanium on polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and the resulting enhanced biological properties.
The surface of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) was coated with a pure titanium (Ti) layer using an electron beam (e-beam) deposition method in order to enhance its biocompatibility and adhesion to bone tissue. The e-beam deposition method was a low-temperature coating process that formed a dense, uniform and well crystallized Ti layer without deteriorating the characteristics of the PEEK implant. T...
متن کاملCharacterization of functionally graded hydroxyapatite/titanium composite coatings plasma-sprayed on Ti alloys.
Bioceramic coatings like hydroxyapatite (HA) have shown promising bioactive properties in load-bearing implant applications. The aim of this work is to deposit functionally graded HA/Ti layers consisting of an underlying Ti bond coat, the alternating layer, and an HA top-layer on Ti6Al4V substrates using plasma spray to improve the coating-substrate interface properties. The alternating layers ...
متن کاملThe effect of hydroxyapatite coating on bone growth into porous titanium alloy implants.
In rabbits and goats, test implants with a porous surface of two layers of Tl-6A;-4V beads were examined at intervals for bond strength with bone. Half of the implants were coated with hydroxyapatite by plasma spray. The bonding strength with bone in the coated specimens was about four times greater than that of the uncoated specimens at two weeks, and twice as strong at six weeks. Twelve weeks...
